April cheque register now public
April cheque register now public…
in late July
A big pat on the back to those who publicly push for these things. Open and Transparent shouldn’t be a problem, right Brian?
Public pressure has prevailed and the town has finally released the April cheque register. This truly is the Council governed by FaceBook. I don’t have a lot of time today, but a couple of things stood out.
I wonder if all staff with access to Visa cards have learned to keep their spending within their credit limits, or have they simply responded to the criticism by changing the way they report over limit fees. Either way… public pressure does affect change!
My next observation is more of a question. Were the Band Hotel amounts included in the financial report that showed the big profit potentials of running concerts at the TPAL? There were other amounts (lots of them) that appear to be directly related to the concerts (policing, sound equipment, etc.). Were all of these amounts included in those reports?
It’s an important question because they have just had Council approve lending a new corporate entity $500,000.00 and paying thousands to set them up, based on the reported ability to re-pay the loan.
Look at the hidden details in some Visa card payments. Lol… I guess it’s easy to avoid criticism if you word things a certain way.
Anyhow… I look forward to May, and June. Have a good read.
