šŸ“Discussion 73 of 365;šŸ“†

I like following the breadcrumbs.
Breadcrumb 1.

I watched Brian Smith election videos. I heard that he was no longer a resident of Wasaga Beach, but in his videos, he said, ā€œThis is my homeā€. Surely nobody running for Mayor would lie to his constituents on video, so I tucked it away as a piece that just didn’t make sense.

Breadcrumb 2.

During an unrelated discussion, I am surprised to get confirmation from an independent source that the campaign videos were filmed at an address in Tiny Township. I am told it is actually where he lives. So, I start to confidently share what I know. As you all know, this accusation of living out of town starts to be shared by many because others are talking about it, yet Brian Smith does NOTHING to address it. His Social Media support team turns up the heat and defends him. None of them say it is not true, just that it doesn’t matter because it’s ā€œlegalā€. How many people who signed his nomination papers knew his address?

Breadcrumb 3.

Developer/ Mayor Brian Smith who has bought and sold several properties in our community and surrounding communities decides to request a Minor Variance from the Committee of adjustments. So, this requires posting the request publicly and someone paying attention forwards me a photo. On that photo, there is confirmation of he and his wife owning the property. (A block from Town Hall).

Breadcrumb #4
Knowing of Mayor Smiths ownership of the property, someone visits Town hall, where public records are on display in the lobby. This prompts another photo to get sent to me. One column of these records shows the address of the property which is the subject of the Variance Request. The record ALSO shows in a different column, not only who owns the Wasaga Beach Property, but also the home address of the owner of that property. Okay, this is where it comes full circle.
Brian Smiths home address is now confirmed as being in Tiny Township.

I know the campaign videos were filmed in the Tiny Township home. That’s where he apparently lived while getting elected. Before those who defend him say, he does not have to live in Wasaga Beach in order to run for an election…. They are right. But… his lies during his campaign videos and deception of Wasaga Beach being his home are VERY important. How many people who were convinced to vote for him because of all of the lies and deception his team spread, knew he lived outside of Wasaga Beach? (At the time of the election- even I did not know for sure)

Ask your neighbours if this little fib matters. After all, he has personally told you WHY our taxes have gone up so much. That wouldn’t be a fib as well would it? He has told you about shredded documents and said to trust him… it will all come out. But, no charges yet. That wouldn’t be a fib would it? He or his CAO told you that his previous Council had 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 funding to build his hub. He refuses to answer questions about that. It wouldn’t be a fib would it?

Deception is a tricky game Brian. When people feel betrayed, they do not forget those who betrayed them. Well, actually, you have proven sometimes they do forget.

What was it you said at the WBRA AGM? Something about doing things so fast, it would be too late for anyone to stop things before you got them done? I’m paraphrasing because the actual words used were much worse!

Where do you live Brian Smith?

When did you move there?

It’s legal to live wherever you want, but is it ethical to fib about where your home is in order to win an election?

Some people say home is where the heart is. Some people say it’s where you have to live for a set period of time to avoid capital gains.

My home is Wasaga Beach!

(I was also sent photos of several other pages of the tax register)

šŸ“‚73 of 365šŸ“† was my plan. That leaves 292 discussions and the audience is growing.

Did you know it was a leap year? The biggest conversation starter may just come on day 366! ā³
