Build Condos!

I look forward to having the Beach One/Two development dilemma resolved.

The bottom line for this Council and the ones before it has always been ā€œbuild condosā€.
We have all heard this same position for years…. Without putting up several stories of condos, they keep saying nobody will build ground floor commercial.
I say, it is time to consider a fresh perspective. Brian Smith tied us up financially years ago when his first Council purchased a large percentage of the land at Beach One. The problem… he had no business plan!
Here is one idea… Modernize the parking lots with solar panel roofs, forget about condos… period. Establish pricing for the Dard, Bananas and the remaining buildings down there and sell to a developer or restauranteur who will invest in remodeling the buildings from the ground up. If you want residential, convert the pedestrian mall area to a Main Street with two stories of residential above retail/ commercial. That’s it! Don’t eliminate the existing parking.

Then take Beach Two and dedicate a permanent outdoor stage to the area if we must, but leave it as public access park space, forever! . If we do put a stage then add modern public facilities including a large change house/ bathroom and even a concession stand. Maybe a rooftop viewing area/ venue (like Grand Bend).
Why not stop the pipe dreams. Leave the nostalgia in Wasaga Beach. Preserve as much public access as possible. DO NOT CREATE A PRIVATE PROPERTY ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR Main Tourism Area!

If condos get built, you can rest assured, the no trespassing signs will follow.
What other ideas are viable?
