In Wasaga Beach it is staff that run the town

Why have I been focused on items found on our town website lately? Well, in the case of the Code of Conduct and the Procedural Bylaw, it was in part to show how some people have no business in the “business” of running our town.
But I was leading into expressing how most of our municipal staff through the years, have done a great job of recognizing that the public can and will benefit from having information at their fingertips.
For instance, the Winter Control Policy lays out the order that our roads will be cleared of snow. It deals with potential damage, fire hydrant access and all together 23 pages of great policy. Of course, the same section you find that relevant policy in (Roads and Vehicles) you will also find the incredible “Shopping Cart Bylaw”. That’s right, we have one of those. Care to guess which term of office found that a priority?🤣
I hope you take a moment and read a few of the policies (Front to Back) in order to understand that most of what we see happening on a daily basis has little or NOTHING to do with our elected body.
Who does administer the majority of the policies you find in the Towns Website? Staff! That’s right, your neighbours, your friends, every day people who (from my personal experience) take great pride in the place we all call home.
These men and women are the ones who get up early to ensure your roads are clear. They are the ones who stay late when a water main breaks. These are the men and women who actually make Wasaga Beach a community we are all proud of.
Sure, through the years, previous Councils, Committees and individuals have established predefined policies dealing with almost every scenario our community may experience. But it’s those following policies and fulfilling the obligations in those policies that deserve our thanks.
Councils will come and go. Most of the staff are here to stay. Our home is also their home!
Anyhow…. Check out the link and see what our “Winter Control Policy” is all about. More about policies later.
