Leaf pick up
Leaf pick up
Whoops, I missed #302. I have a whole file of discussions that were abandoned simply because something more pressing happened to pop up.
But the other day, I was out removing leaves from the corners of our property. What a chore this is for many Wasaga Beach residents. With a mature tree canopy, leaves are no stranger to a windy fall day, but Oak leaves create an interesting mess. They appear to take longer than most to break down.
I grew up in a community where “bagging” leaves was unheard of. We simply raked our leaves to the curb and a big vacuum truck came along and cleaned up.
Could this be something worth exploring in Wasaga Beach? Could our public works department manage a huge compost heap and allow citizens to fill their gardens with these mulched up leaves?
I don’t know that it is a great idea as it appears some communities have stopped providing the service, while others have picked it up.
I do know it is worthy of discussion…. Your thoughts?
