Wait, What?

During Thursdays Council meeting, Mayor Smith was making a comment about the ball hockey rink that was donated by Marc Crowe. Thanks Mr. Crowe! I think he was attempting to explain why the Roller Skating event was going to be the key May 24 event in Wasaga Beach. He made a comment that said Council had decided not to spend as much money on this weekend as they normally do. Apparently they considered that the weather often ruined May 24 events, so it was felt the funds should be better spent later in the summer.
Wait, What?

I thought that this Council has said that tourism is our only industry (I disagree with this statement). Shouldn’t the launch of summer, particularly our big 50th, be a BIG THING?

I wanted to share this due to the various posts about nothing to do or the posts about dilapidated signs and poor spending decisions of Council. Unless you watch the recorded meetings you often miss the reasoning for these tourism related decisions.

Yes, many of our signs are in disrepair, but they will be spending thousands of dollars wrapping the town busses with a new colour/ event theme.

I agree with many who feel our Council has messed up priorities, but I give it to them… they do throw a good party with our money

when it suits them.
