OPEN AND TRANSPARENT?
OPEN AND TRANSPARENT?
Sometimes older reports give a great insight into what the future holds.
By completing the expansion of River Road West, the Town has left our community with one remaining section of our main thoroughfare that still requires modernization.
The attached Environmental Assessment report was completed in 2018. It shows what will be required to widen and improve Mosley Street from Beachwood to 45th.
With the continued development of the properties surrounding the Casino site and the potential for that Costco announcement at Lyons Gate and Ramblewood, one has to wonder how long we should hold off on this project?
Even the Province has announced funding for a new Collingwood Hospital which will undoubtedly affect traffic studies for that stretch of road.
These difficult decisions are decisions our current Council must have weighed out as these are the major decisions that must be considered at budget time.
I’m guessing, the current Council has just said “shelve it” when looking at this report, as their efforts to get townhouses at Beach One seem to be the priority.
But… SHOULD this project take precedent over Beach One? Look at the unsafe road widening projects they have slapped together to appease some of the safety concerns!
Again… I emphasize that THESE discussions about the weight of this project vs. others… should be discussed OPENLY AT PUBLIC BUDGET MEETINGS. My only recollection of ANY mention of this important project was when one staff member said something about having to delay this several years BECAUSE of other choices being made.
Wasaga Beach Council represents ALL OF WASAGA BEACH.
OPEN AND TRANSPARENT?
This project deserves and requires a prudent fiscal plan with firm commitments of timelines. It’s possible that delays in this project are affecting commercial opportunities that await the Towns commitment to the West End!!!

(I moved it).
I would just like to add to this that this council has just voted to not present the cheque requisition report to the public. we are no longer ALLOWED to see how they are spending our money.
