Someone may be hurt because of this

Well, it is becoming more and more apparent that a diverse group of people are reading these discussions. On a weekly basis, people approach me or message me and say how much they enjoy hearing the truth.
The great thing is our Council is watching as well and the Mayor is ensuring items raised on Facebook are dealt with if it doesn’t cost too much. For instance, someone made a casual observation about the condition of a Welcome Sign. We also mentioned what a great post it was and the combined Social Media mentions resulted in the Town reacting immediately and the signs are being replaced.

I certainly have plenty to discuss, but I wanted to ask that anyone who has a particular topic they want to know more about or a topic they want researched more, just send me a message. I will never reveal the identity of those who reach out. People are quite frankly… afraid to post and afraid to comment for fear of the backlash.

What a shame. There are 80-100 or so people who have been organized for years and if you speak out against Brian, you will be attacked online. If you have a business, it may also be targeted. I get messages about this fear EVERY WEEK!

Sadly from the day Brian Smith entered politics, he created an us vs them playing field. He took it further than most politicians normally do. He and his supporters have created an all or nothing mentality. If you support Brian Smith then you are not allowed to support those he declares enemies, in ANY way.

What a shame! Is this Brian Smiths idea of Leadership? We live in a town of 25,000 people. If we continue allowing him to feed this divisiveness, what will our future hold?

I encourage differing points of view. If you support what I am saying, you are also allowed to support the thoughts of those I disagree with. Having differences is how we learn.

As summer is rolling up on us fast, I want to raise an issue and ask EVERYONE to remain vigilant to ensure nobody is injured (or worse) because of what I think are dangerous paved shoulders created by Brian Smiths Council.

From the corner of 45th and Mosley travelling West, a wide paved shoulder has been created, one assumes to be used as a bike lane or sidewalk.

But here is the thing… IT IS DANGEROUS!!!!

Brian Smith I can’t say it loud enough, ā€œsomeone may be hurt because of thisā€!

These paved shoulders are almost wide enough to be mistaken for an extra lane. When vehicles westbound stop to wait for a left turn, other vehicles are using this shoulder to pass on the right. Yes, it’s illegal, but a fine will not compensate for serious injury.

I admit to not knowing the requirements for actually building proper roadways, but I suspect proper engineering was not undertaken for these projects. If you know the proper process, feel free to comment or forward your comments to me and I will share.

What is a good temporary fix? Maybe plenty of signage or easily an agressive safety line painting scheme should be implemented.
For now, if you have young drivers in your home warn them about the dangers this creates and please… IF you walk on these paths, be very careful and stay aware of motor vehicles encroaching your space.

How much concert money could be diverted to make these lanes safe?

What other road safety issues have you noticed?
Let’s get talking about them so our Facebook driven Council can get to work correcting these issues.

Wasaga Beach is rife with these small but very important issues. They could be solved for the cost of one of the free concerts this council is so focussed on providing to tourists.

This council has never put the residents first.
