Wasaga Budget Shenanigans

On Sept 30, 2024 Barrietoday.com reported that the Simcoe County Budget would likely be between a 1.5 and 2.5 percent increase.

Now, THIS Wasaga Beach Council started a new practice of only reporting the “blended” rate. Why would they do that? Well if my memory serves me right they claim it just created an easier number for us to understand.

But I say the reality is that it is more likely that Brian Smith didn’t want everyone to realize how much he and Andrew McNeill had raised the costs of running our municipality.

Brian Smith, GO BACK TO YOUR FIRST BUDGET AND CORRECT THIS. Tell the people of Wasaga Beach the true tax rate increases you have forwarded to the taxpayer!!

By working the numbers backwards, interested parties did the math last year and realized the Municipal Portion of our tax increases has been about 17.5% since taking office.

WOW! Imagine the pillaging they will do to our remaining reserves to make this LOOK a little less painful!
