Wasaga Council spending shell game

So earlier I mentioned that there was a “Special” Council meeting Thursday. Yes, but there is also the regular Council Meeting.

Honestly, there is so much in this meeting that should be reviewed carefully, but most citizens don’t have the time. This means that items like spending of Casino Funds to fund the new development corporation’s $500,000.00 startup costs are quietly tucked into the MASSIVE income we now get from the Casino.

Lots of interesting information about our reserves and investments, so jump right in.

But honestly, there is just so much to consider. If you look at minutes from previous meetings that are being approved, you will see we are purchasing (or expropriating) properties on Main Street by the water.

How can we afford that? Well that’s simple… just sell the properties at or around the old archive building site. Remember when I posted a discussion that said the moving of the Archives had NOTHING to do with cost savings, but I felt they were emptying it to sell it (probably to a pre-planned recipient)? Well… sure enough… the municipal parking lot, combined with 140 Main are in Thursdays agenda.

So… ask our Mayor, or Joe; with Beach One from first to third and now the Main Street lot, then the hotel commitment that might happen…. How many tourism related parking spots is the Town disposing of to make a few developers rich?
