Welcome to the Wasaga Chronicle.

A modern Chronicle of the Town of Wasaga Beach. This archive mainly contains Social Media posts that need to be remembered rather than lost in the chaff.

In Wasaga Beach the news and flow of information is entirely controlled by Mayor Brian Smith and is used to further his own personal agenda. His hand picked council and senior staff ensure his wishes overide the needs and representation of the whole community.

They ARE paying attention

Wasaga Beach Discussion 361 of 365; They ARE paying attention I’m finishing off a post about who is engaged in Political Discussions and how this affects the outcomes of elections. That will be my next discussion. But a point I want to make in this short comment as well, is that social media activity can (and does) actually modify active political decisions. On several occasions in the last couple of years, Council members and staff have referred to FaceBook discussions during Council Meetings. They have also used screenshots of comments in legal actions. So make no mistake, Social Media posts do make a difference. Many of you have heard me say that Mayor Smith asked me to head up his Social Media strategy back in 2013. I refused his offer, which cemented his distain for us personally. In fact, that was probably the last time he walked into [...]

  • Wasaga Beach Discussion 208 of 365; Our Financial Position. In recent weeks we have had several discussions that I hoped would prepare people to better understand the upcoming municipal budget. • Wasaga Beach is an open toilet This is how the headlines are currently reading and dozens of YouTube videos surface about the issue of what are claimed as mainly East Indians defecting on the beach and not using the available toilets. https://youtu.be/KY3abQmciHk?si=l_vPeTzMI8Owy628 The real issue frankly isn’t necessarily the instances of public defecation. nor even whether there needs to [...]

  • Discussion 199 of 365; Budget talks. The other day we discussed our tax levy. There are so many parts to an Ontario Municipal budget to understand.
