Closure of Wasaga Beach Archives

I tried to copy a link directly to the Towns Web page about our archives, but could not do so. The page is still there but I was unable to copy the link. So, go to the Towns Website. Click the table of contents link and select; “Explore and Discover”.

The first item on the list is our Archives.

The attached screenshots are just to show what you will find. The links on these screenshots will not work. You must go to the Towns website to access these pages.

Now, why focus on our archives? Well, despite the considerable cost in setting up, organizing and displaying the various contents, our Council has decided to close this important facility.

Why? Well, Some are guessing it is merely a cost saving measure, others feel the Town plans to sell the property it is housed at. Nobody knows for sure.

For those promoting the incredible history of our community as important, it sounds like it will all be boxed up and stored somewhere until another council recognizes the importance of public access to the inventory of documents and historical photographs/items.

The sad part is, very few people will be aware of this closure until long after it has been shuttered.
