I have been forwarded the latest missive from the WBRA(inc). It’s a long read, but there are a couple of issues that Faye Ego has her panties bunched over;

First of course is the town indemnification bylaw. The one that protects staff and council from slander. This is of course deemed a threat by the supporters of the WBRA(inc.) because it is these very supporters who are the ones slandering staff and council. They couch this as an attack on free speech, but I remind everyone that the accusation of slander is tested in a court and indeed subject to an exhaustive process to ensure its not a spurious or malicious action.

Further to this staff are at present completely without protection or the ability to even reply because of binding I.C. rules. Allegations of theft and general wrongdoing go unanswered and become accepted as normal in our Community. This simply isn’t right.

While of course it’s ridiculous that a municipality needs a bylaw like this, it is becoming increasingly obvious we aren’t a normal community, and that certain individuals in cooperation with the WBRA(inc.) are able to make unsubstantiated and socially toxic allegations against people in the course of their employment by the town. We need to protect these people and ensure they do not need to suffer as a consequence of their service to the town.

Do I need to remind people how toxic social media has become in Wasaga Beach? This is a consequence of the progression began in the election before last. It is significant that Faye Ego should oppose such protections and couch them as an attack on free speech.

We have of course an attack on council for even continuing any business other than a CORVID-19 Related agenda. I note that the province has deemed municipal business to be essential and allowed to continue. Therefore just the same as a drug store or supermarket the fundamental businesses of council proceeds. That said we see yet another attack on this council by Faye Ego for simply doing their mandated business in the best way they can to prevent the spread of the virus in council.

One would hope that a ratepayers association would feel compelled to assist council in any way. We find however with Mrs. Ego’s private club that in no instance will she halt her vitrolic attack on the operation of our town or yet another opportunity to allege wrongdoing by acouncil that is entirely focused on getting the town through the pandemic.

As ever the letter contains the usual attack on the decision to close the after hours clinic. Sadly it needs to be reiterated that this was done because there simply were no doctors to support the clinic. This is even more true when doctors are even more stressed by the pandemic. The closing of the clinic in favour of not congregating sick people in one place in favour of sending them to facilities that are prepared to handle issue of the pandemic only makes more sense. Yes again we see WBRA(Inc.) relentlessly attacking council over a decision that only makes sense. I would guess if they decided to keep the clinic Mrs. Ego would be lambasting them for that decision too.

Here is some homework for you. Find something, anything that Faye has ever complimented this council over. She has announced publically that she isn’t running herself, but notable in the circle supported by the WBRA(inc.) is a slate of other candidates (including a single incumbent) who all stand to gain from the smearing of this council and the ruin of projects like the library and arena. Thus the call made to divert the funds for these projects to nebulous pandemic spending.

One last thing. Disclaimers at the end of your post mean nothing if you actually identify individuals. If you make a claim about someone you better have evidence to back it up or we will be testing Faye’s commitment to support these “free speech” adherents. What disclaimers do mean is that you know exactly what you are doing when you post lies.
